چکیده

Ultra-high strength steels (UHSS) have a determining role in construction and industry. Furthermore, welding as the primary joining process for steel has similar promoting its applications. Therefore, welded UHSS vital related However, due to their complex microstructures, these are more prone harmful effects of heat input on mechanical properties compared mild steels. Thus, identifying correlations between microstructural transformations triggered by can lead new insights hindering drawbacks. This study investigates microstructures S960 (with severe softening after welding) S1100 negligible decrease understand mechanisms behind UHSS. Microstructural analysis showed formation soft phases, e.g., ferrite granular bainite, reason softening. tempered forms martensite bainite resulted simultaneous hardness notch toughness. Finally, applicabilities two experimental approaches predict from constituents were evaluated proved relatively good reliability detect HAZ softened spots.

Microstructure, Recrystallization, and Mechanical Property Evolutions in the Heat-Affected and Fusion Zones of the Dissimilar Stainless Steels

The purpose of this study was to discuss the microstructure, recrystallization, and mechanical property evolutions in the heat-affected zones and fusion zones during dissimilar stainless steels welding. The morphology, quantity and chemical composition of the -ferrite were analyzed by using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and ele...

Effect of Thermomechanical Processing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex stainless steels (DSSS) have a microstructure composed of ferrite and austenite phases that gives them a very good combination of mechanical and corrosion properties. These steels are desirable for many applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In the present study, a type of stainless steel was cast, solution annealed at 1200°C for 60 min and then quenched in water. Ini...

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of the Friction Welded Joint between X53CrMnNiN219 and X45CrSi93 Stainless Steel

Dissimilar metals friction welding of austenitic–martensitic stainless steels is commonly used in order to manufacture engine valves in the automobile industry. In this study, X53CrMnNiN219 (austenitic stainless steel) and X45CrSi93 (martensitic stainless steel) valve steel rods were welded by friction welding process. The welded joint was then heat treated at 760 0C for 60 min. Mechanical prop...

Optimization of thermomechanical parameters to produce an ultra-high strength compressor disk

Structural steels with very high strength levels are often referred to as ultrahigh-strength steels (UHSS). The usage of UHSS has been extensively studied in aerospace industries and offshore platforms. In this study, medium carbon low alloy steel (AMS6305) was thermomechanicaly treated to obtain an ultra-high strength bainitic steel for aircraft engine compressor disk. A novel themomechanical ...
